Canine Stuff - At Times It Seems Like Dogs Have To Be Bought More Bits And Pieces Than Children Do!
My husband & I own two dogs. They're considered a part of the family & we attempt to include them in many of the things we like to do. This means that we have accumulated plenty of canine stuff through the years. It is astounding the amount of advertising there's that gets directed toward dog owners & pet owners on the whole. The marketers know that people love their pets & are willing to spend plenty of money on them. It seems that each holiday season there is more and more canine stuff in the stores.This past holiday season I could not believe my eyes when I was in the accessory a segment of a national department-store. At first I thought there was a brand-new section of doll garments that was placed in this department. Upon closer examination I realized that the clothes were for dogs. Together with the garments there were beds, toys, an anti bark collar, designer dishes & other canine stuff. This is a shop that does not ordinarily have a housepet section. I asked one of the sales clerks when this a segment of the anti bark collar and other canine stuff had been added. She declared that it was part of their holiday operation nation wide. It seems that folks were asking for more items that they could get, not only for their canine, but for the pets of their friends. I jokingly asked if this didn't snub cat owners, but I was told that the cat merchandize was on the opposite side of the display I was investigating.
The dog stuff included very elaborate out-fits for the holidays, together with the anti bark collar. Velvet dresses, satin off the shoulder cocktail gowns, and the more traditional knit sweaters. There were also collars that were adorned with sequins and stones. I could tell that the sales clerk was not thrilled with this brand-new merchandize. I commented that our female dog would certainly prefer precious stones. When I stated this she directed me over to the fine jewelry counter & showed me a display of precious and semi precious collars. I could not believe what I was seeing. I understood that there were specialty stores and catalogs that handled this kind of dog stuff, but I not ever thought that it would be featured in a national department-store. The clerk mentioned that they had a huge display of Halloween costumes in the fall together with distinctive treats for the four legged trick or treater's.
I came home and told my husband about the display of dog stuff. He commented that we might be recipients of some of the bits and pieces, because our family members and friends know that we indulge our dogs. I told him that if we did get something I hoped it would be the fourteen carat gold collar with the pearl pendant.
