An Adolescent Questions Her Drinking Pals To Dig Up More Information About Alcohol Abuse And Alcohol Addiction
Heather drank to an excess on a regular basis with her pals. One Monday after all her classes were completed, she started thinking about her drinking behavior and the irresponsible and abusive drinking of her classmates. As a result of this, she courteously asked all of her pals the following question: "what do we really know about binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and alcohol abuse? Stated more precisely, how much alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our young age, we surely drink a lot and I am really starting to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-associated problems when we become adults.I think that we should go on the Internet and discover all that is possible about alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, and alcoholism. And then if we have any issues that we really do not comprehend after we do our online research, we can drive to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Novak to explain things to us.
It should not come as a complete surprise that what Heather discussed would lead to a heated discussion. For example, her best friend since elementary school, Alexis, stated that they are too healthy and too young to be concerned about drinking to an excess. Another classmate named Damon reasoned that since most adolescents drink there is no good reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Keira said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her pals. And still another drinking pal named Dallas in reality agreed with Heather essentially because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related problems.
Heather openly mentioned to her friends that she understood everything that they had said but that engaging in abusive and irresponsible drinking at such a vulnerable age really cannot be very healthy or conducive toward establishing a meaningful life. When two or three of her drinking pals asked what kind of alcohol problems Heather was referring to, Heather articulated the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, and cancer, and other alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances).
When Heather then mentioned that abusive and careless drinking typically results in relationship, legal, financial, and school problems, some of her friends finally began to understand how wide-ranging and how debilitating abusive and irresponsible drinking can be. Indeed, some of her friends became more open and started to disclose how these alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected their parents and some of their friends.
After discussing some of the alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse problems that are related to irresponsible and hazardous drinking, the majority of her drinking pals liked the idea about getting information online. They were, however, apprehensive about discussing their drinking circumstances with any of the teachers at school. As Heather heard this she thought to herself, "at least they want to learn more about their irresponsible and hazardous drinking. This is an excellent start."
